There was an article Friday on Northern Renaissance artist,
Albrecht Dürer, in the New York Times by Holland Cotter. I was struck by this watercolor which Cotter describes as, "In the 1503 watercolor 'Virgin and Child With a Multitude of Animals and
Plants,” Dürer seems to depict the world as a vast petting zoo.'"
