Introduction to Watercolor Workshop Blog

This blog is designed to deepen your investigation into the fundamentals of watercolor, share watercolors done in the class, as well as post work that I find through gallery and museum exhibits, or through perusing the web. 

My classes promote a flexible approach to painting and endeavor to maintain a sense of fun and adventure through your process.  The fundamentals of watercolor, such as transparency,  composition, and specific watercolor techniques, are used to locate and engage personal vision.  The class is designed to introduce a wide range of techniques and styles as well as encourage experimentation and discovery .

As you continue to work with watercolor, you will develop your own content. This happens when you pay attention to what you choose to paint, which colors you're attracted to, how you use value (light to dark), how you choose your composition, and a myriad of other choices. The challenge is to paint enough so that you can sensitize yourself to what works for you in your own particular practice.
